Cut Flowers: a business with an international focus

Andalusia and, specifically, Cádiz are the top carnation producers in Spain. The nurseries of Chipiona, Sanlúcar and Jerez sell between 55,000 and 60,000 tonnes of this flower annually, earning more than 90 million euros each year, the highest ‘agricultural product’ sales figures for the province of Cádiz. The increase in exports, particularly to hypermarkets, and the growing demand for new products have been noticeable in recent years within this industry, which now seeks to make a qualitative leap forward, in order to achieve an even higher level of profitability and competitiveness.
